The number of manufacturers at the selection confirms the growth of passenger traffic throughout Europe. The very successful project of affordable long distance intercity lines (so-called Fernbus) in Germany exceeded all expectations and the German example is already being followed in France, where the market will also be opened to foreign carriers. Projects of this type lead to an increase in the number of passengers, and the producers, whose sales of buses are also increasing on this account, are playing their hands.
This year's bus test took place in the Bulgarian city of Plovdiv, where we tested the candidates on an almost hour-long test route, which included city driving, local roads and the highway. In addition, acceleration and braking distances were also measured with the buses. Candidates were: Iveco Magelys, Neoplan Skyliner, Setra S 516 HDH, Sunsundegui SC7, Temsa HD 12 and VDL Futura MD.
